152 Peacock Bass caught in 6 1/2 days fishing 8 x 10 lbs 1 x 11 lbs 6 x 12 lbs 1 x 17 lbs
The fishing was generally pretty good. The camp host, Alejandro Filipich, was very good. My guide, Rivaldo, was fantastic. He spoke no English but we managed to communicate. I wished I had brought many, many more bucktail jigs because they were very effective catching many smaller fish but also quite a few 10-12 pounders. At one point I caught 15 small peacocks in 30 casts. The piranhas chew the bucktails up pretty good though, so bring lots of spares. I'd also stick with the smaller, slimmer top water baits. The really big woodchoppers feel like you're casting a bucket of paint pretty quickly and they don't seem to produce any more action than the slimmer, smaller versions. Also, if you can bring a reel with 7:1 gear ratio, that makes working the topwaters a lot easier.
The wildlife, scenery and people were all fantastic.
