PEACOCK BASS FISHING REPORTS

Listed bellow are the Mid-Week Fishing Reports as rushed by e-mail to our agents every Thursday in order that our week-end incoming guests may be duly informed before departure. As such, these reports are for only 3 days (instead of the full week).

Please note, these are true weights … sometimes in the Amazon the 17-19 lbs. class are considered 20 lbs. trophies…

Fishing at the Fly In Floating Cabins as been good in terms of trophies specially over the water falls and at the head waters of the Unini. At the our new riverboat ,Black Water Explorer, fishing has been reasonable considering its lack of mobility to overcome shallows waters.(We are trying to place it inside one of our low fishing pressure Indian Reserves )

In only 3 days, a total of 775 fish were landed by 22 anglers, 72 of which were in the 10 - 16 lbs. class, 16 were in the 17 – 19 lbs. class, 4 were in the 20 - 22 lbs. class, and 1 was 23 lbs.

* North-East: (Roraima State) The Río Branco tributaries water levels (Taperá, Xeurini, Omero, etc.) which were excellent in December-March, are still a little too high which is normal this time of the year.
* North: (Barcelo’s area) Water levels at all Río Negro tributaries are too high except for a few headwaters in the southern Negro tributaries where we are currently fishing.
* Mid North: (above the waterfalls of the Unini) We are also currently fishing this area and water levels at the headwaters are ok .Lets hope it does not continue to rain
* Mid South: (Igoapaçú, Matupiri, Tupana, etc.) Water levels are perfect; however we have had temporary problems in our Indian Reserve leases on all these rivers.
* South: (Manicoré, Marmelos, etc.) Water levels are too low and we have “fished out ” this area in July and Agust.

Fishing has been very good over the water falls (entry barriers) on the Unini .As informed last week, all our other fishing is just bellow River Plate's standards. Since we had a temporary problems in our Indian Reserve lease on the Matupiri system, we had to move our operations Mid North prematurely (before dry season) where water levels are a bit high which is normal for this time of the year.
