(these are true weights … sometimes in the Amazon the 17-19 lbs. class are considered 20 lbs. trophies…)

Fishing in terms of numbers has been good, despite substantial rainfall and mediocre water levels. However, River Plate was able to place multiple operations over the water falls on the Unini river where water levels are perfect.

A total of 1.657 fish were landed by 33 anglers, 217 of which were in the 10 - 16 lbs. class, 12 were in the 17 - 19 lbs. class and 1 was 20 lbs. (these are true weights … sometimes in the Amazon the 17-19 lbs. class are considered 20 lbs. trophies…)

Last week was the best for this season for trophies: 3.286 fish were landed by 21 anglers, of which 350 were in the 12-18 lbs. class, 19 were 19 lbs., 10 were 20 lbs., 2 were 21 lbs., 3 were 22 lbs., 1 was 24 lbs. and 1 was 25 lbs.

Fishing in terms of trophy fish has been good, despite mediocre water levels in all rivers.
Except over the water falls on the Unini river, water levels are still high.

A total of 1.857 fish were landed by 25 anglers, 168 of which were in the 12 - 18 lbs. class, 4 were 19 lbs., 9 were 20 lbs., 1 was 21 lbs., 3 were 22 lbs. and 1 was 25 lbs.
Last week 4.154 were landed by 32 anglers, of which 295 were in the 12-18 lbs. class, 17 were 19 lbs. class, 1 were 21 lbs., 1 was 22 lbs. and 1 was 23 lbs.

Please note the large amount of 19 pounders and over. These are honest trophy weight classifications. There is a growing tendency among others outfitters to “transfer” the 17-19 trophies in the 20 lbs. category. Moreover, there is also a growing tendency among others outfitters to troll, instead of cast, for trophy fish which is not necessary in our remote low fishing pressure areas.
